A couple weeks ago as Steve Fowler preached I was moved. Not only was he talking about reaching the "lost" (those who do not yet believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior) but he was talking about how it's every day, not just overseas. I was so proud of myself at first thinking that Randy and I had that conversation while dating; however, was quickly put back in a place of humility when an all too common story was told. A man he worked with, talked with, laughed with every day had a problem. Instead of sharing Jesus out of fear or that maybe it was the inappropriate place, he sat silenced about what God had to say about his problems. He died. We don't know if he'd heard about Jesus or not.
Last week, I was talking to a co-worker, just about work and his family, it was a normal day. The following day we received an email that he was at Salem Hospital's ICU. They thought it was a heart attack but it wasn't, medically induced coma, the list goes on. Well, he passed away Sunday. What if? What if I had taking MORE time to share what I know, the hope I have? What if?
Josh Mann preached yesterday, awesome sermon! Often we focus on those who reject Jesus and not the ones who have not heard. What I have found though, is there are many people HERE who don't know, they haven't heard...What if we told them?
I loved the song before but now I feel like a hypocrit. Lord, I pray that these words would TRULY become my life motto:
Surely children were not made for the streets
And fathers were not made to leave
Surely this isn't how it should be
Let Your kingdom come
Surely nations were not made for war
Or the broken meant to be ignored
Surely this just can't be what you saw
Let Your kingdom come
Here in my heart
I will live
To carry Your compassion
To love a world that's broken
To be Your hands and feet
I will give
With the life that I've been given
And go beyond religion
To see the world be changed
By the power of Your name
Surely life wasn't made to forget
And the lost were not made to forget
Surely faith without action is dead
Let Your kingdom come
Lord break this heart
Jesus Your name
Is a refuge for the weak
Only Your name
Can redeem the undeserving
Jesus Your name
Holds everything I need
